About us

Sulky Gully Park is proudly run by Bec Sinclair & Jay Schembri.

Bec grew up on the family farm near Ballarat, Vic and was on the back of a horse before she could walk. This led to her starting Sulky Gully Park in 2018 and training full-time since mid 2019. Bec believes she has grown as a horsewoman more and more each year and that there is always more to learn. She began her competition career eventing, which she did for a long time, before turning to barrel racing and then eventually campdrafting. In April 2024, Bec competed in Australia’s Greatest Horsewoman which was her debut into the reining, cutting and cowhorse world, sparking a whole new passion.

Jay grew up in Coimadai, Vic and was on a pony with his Dad at just 5 days old! With horses in his blood, Jay quickly found his passion and began producing ponies to sell from a young age. He grew as a horseman, forming his own technique and in 2018, he put it to practice, working for Frankfield Stock horses in Clermont QLD as a breaker/ educator. On his return back to Vic, Jay began his own business “JS Equine Services”, producing more horses in his spare time.

Like Bec, Jay always produced his own horses. A favourite being his buckskin Stock horse mare “Rocket”, who was gifted to him on his 18th birthday. Jay broke her in and the pair have since competed and placed in many maiden and novice campdrafts, Cattleman’s get together, Battle on the Bidgee and The Man from Snowy River. On his current filly, “Spirits Roc n Repeat”, Jay has also tried his hand in the cutting and cowhorse pen with plans to improve these skills.

We work using natural horsemanship based methods and every horse is treated as an individual, allowed to express their thoughts and concerns. The aim with each horse is to have a confident, safe, happy and healthy equine partner. We pride ourselves on sending horses home feeling and looking their absolute best as well as having a good, level headed work ethic.

While horses are in work here, we maintain constant contact with owners, sending updates and photos most days and are more than happy to allow visits/ observing of training sessions.

If there is anything left unsaid or that you would like to know more about, we are both more than happy to answer any questions via text, Facebook message or email.
